today's entry gonna be slightly different.
i'm not gonna talk bout' wad i did today but instead, i'll talk about sth probably ppl dont realise n takes advantage of.
look at this following pictures.

wad does this two pictures shows?
obviously, form the basics of everyone's knowledge, wad i wish to talk in this entry is about healthcare profession.
in particular, i wish to talk about nurses. :)
have u really gave a thought to these 'social workers' who work day in and out for patients?
have u really actually tot of wad they have to set their mindsets to in order to be a nurse?
well..
lets start point by point. :))
let's talk in terms of one's emotion.
nurses have to be emotionally strong cos the patient's life is in their hands.
in other words they have to be prepared for wadever incident that they are going to face while they are on the job.
lets pick a scenario.
a dying patient and their loved ones surrounding the patient.
i mean, nurses have to be around just in case the unexpected happens. the patient jus passed away and what the nurse could jus see is the patient's loved ones moaning and crying.
what do i mean by emotionally strong is that they hafto be in that state whereby whatever they see is have to be seen like normal. despite the crying, nurses hafto still attend to the dead patient.

AS A NURSE, WHAT DO YOU DO?
thats wad i mean by emotionally strong, despite the gruesome-ness they have seen, they hafto knock that image out from their skulls and do what they hafto do; which is to attend to the patient.
secondly, a nurse hafto be knowledgable.
cos they hafto know what are the patient's basic needs.
they hafto be sure that whatever given to the patient [be it pills, food etc], is correct.
one wrong mistake, will result in more complications. so knowledgable in that sense.
thirdly, nurses need to be a good listener.
i feel nurses double up their job as a psychiatrist too. they hafto understand what the patients are going thru.
a scenario wuld be like - a patient got into an accident with his friend. he survived but his fren did not. he's going thru a period of depression n guilt after what happened.
so wad a nurse hafto do is to sympathize and at the same time know what to say in order to make the patient feel better.
[ this is jus a scenario. i'm not being shallow. :) ]
forthly, to be a nurse, its never easy cos a nurse need to deal with different types of stress.
[eg. pressure from doc, from patient, from management]
that's where being emotionally strong comes in.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, [courtesy of nina] "hospitals can do w/o doctors, but NOT w/o nurses".
w/o having any nurse to be on the job, there wont be such a thing called hospitals. doctors are not trained to do what nurses do.
NURSE and DOCTORS, two different thing.
so... have i changed ur mindset towards nurses?
its quite disheartening for ppl to ignore nurses who have contributed alot. being a nurse is NEVER easy.
so the next time u see a nurse in ur local hospital, take that extra effort to smile at them and thank them.
cos u do not know how long they have spend their time in hospitals.
that simple smile can brighten up their day after long hours of work and make their work even more enjoyable than it already is.
i guess that sums up my point..
and i definitely give my salute to all nurses in this world. not forgetting to nurses-to-be. :))
till then..
keep taggin'
