APOLOGIES. lets get it started.
well....
the past few days have been pretty much hectic for me.
i'm not gonna say things thats so not worth my time.
u know why?
COS I feel LIKE IT.
rehearsals before the concert was pretty hectic and i must say that we improved alot.
in terms of sound and all.
quite proud as a band.
and of course.
without the help and guidance of our resident conductor, Mr Glosz, all these wouldnt have happened.
lets do it chronologically.
so..
sunday's the day.
5TH AUGUST 2007
supposed to report at St. Andrew's @ 12noon.
we (me, dham & yonglin)
reported at 12:20 instead.
hahaha!
by the time we arrived, everything was up the lorry.
sorry for not helping.
and esp to Jerrick for helping me load my bari sax up the lorry.
headed to Macdees for our lunch.
we din realise we were taking our time.
so we decided to cab down to Singapore Conference Hall (SCH)...
Yonglin paid for the fare. :D
thanks!
upon reaching SCH..
reported at the concert hall entrance.
yada yada yada.
it was time for us to enter.
i helped the percussions to load into that massive lift.
arranged for rehearsal.
took my bari sax out and we were good to start.
i like the feeling of playing with PHILyouth in SCH.
its like .. "WOW"..
according to Mr Glosz, we did played the correct sound.
and i definitely like the wave effect after we stopped playing.
we ran thru some pieces.
my fav repertoire, WEST SIDE STORY.
i like the ending bit.
its SUPER GRAND...!
if u were there to watch the concert, u'd know what i'm talking about.
after rehearsal, we got changed and ate.
went back stage to tune up.
and entered stood by for instructions to be given out.
MR LIONEL LYE was the EMCEE and i swear he was hilarious.
he has always been funny since i know him like 6 years back? yeah..
oh ya.. speaking of Lionel, he borrowed me his some sort of brooch in a shape of a bari sax.
damn! i din get to take a pic of it. haha!
i felt honored cos he just came up to me and pin that up onto my shirt.
thanks bro!
moving on. . .
then.. we began walking.
OMG.
there's like so many ppl shouting the performer's name.
i heard mine like twice?
haha!
sat. tune.
Mr Glosz entered....
and we were good to go.
1st half was not up to what we rehearsed before.
oh yah.. my tuning went off.
back stage was not so cold.
and the stage itself was very cold.
so, my tuning went SHARPER! damn!
bad idea.. they shud have pre tuned us on stage before we got changed and then tune us again after settling down before playing the first piece.
well........its over.
haha!
INTERVAL nothing much.
had to stay back stage.
and 15mins later, we're off for the 2nd half of the concert.
2nd half was relatively better.
i love Concerto for Drum Set and Concert Band.
the two drummers (one from St. Andrew's and the other from St. Patrick's) were awesome.
it was like some IRON MAIDEN concert. haha!
they did double-paddling which was awesome.
cool eh..
weird thing.. during the rehearsal.... they werent playing like that.
everybody (the performers esp) was shocked by how the two drummers brought the whole house down with their skills.
so kudos to them. :D
concert ended before we knew it.
ppl shouted for an encore.
and we played concerto for drum set once more.
this time round the energy was way up the scale.
we felt good after the concert.
we went back stage while waiting for the audience to clear off.
and we went back in on stage for photo taking.
haha!
cool man..... we did a few formal shots and two fun shot.
i went right in front at the edge of the stage for the fun shot, literally... hahaha!
packed our stuffs and i handed over the bari sax over to Lionel.
and then i made my way out.
WOH!
the moment i got out from the exit.
ppl are like calling my name and once they got up to me they were giving me gifts.
first time in my life i received so many gifts after concert.
