perhaps the best

The name is Khairul. Would do fine with Khai or Kerol [kay-roll] - with proper pronunciation that is.

May have caused a traumatic experience to the nurses who were there when I graced the world on the 14th of June, 21 years ago.

I reside at the great eastern side of Singapore. At an estate named after a water containment facility. Go figure!

A left-hander. However, I function more like a right. And sometimes left of course.

Owns a Class 3 driving licence.

Have been playing the saxophone for 8 years. Currently a Baritone Saxophonist in the Philharmonic Youth Winds.

Being and socialising with people occupy whatever free time I might have.

Boredom is sadly pathetic - would be just staring at my ceiling.

And recently, graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where I pursued a diploma in Arts Management, majoring in Performing Arts.

Philharmonics Winds concert.

(updated on Dec 10th; 11:34am)
[i've change the date and time for archiving purposes]

PART 1

greetings!
so, the concert with philwinds was great!
great experience though.
but yeah.. i went through that concert feeling unwell.
how unfortunate

anyway...
on the 7th of December was the concert.
started out in the early afternoon.
met idham at Eunos.
and from there, headed down to Esplanade concert hall.
upon reaching, went to look for our dressing room and this was what we saw..

so,

entered the room with pride.
(cos we are one hell of sax-y people)
put our stuffs and lingered around.
waited for them to finish rehearsing the pieces that we're not playing.
me and idham will only be playing for Jazz Suite No. 2.

waited and waited,
and it was our turn.
i must say it was a very fast rehearsal.
for me and idham that is.

went back into the changing room and waited for the rest to walk in.
went for early dinner.
in this room; backstage.
the food was ok i guess.
then afterwards, went up to the concourse to get the camera from nina.
and dough-nuts she bought for us (thanks!)
and the cookies.
hahaha!

waited for lionel, jiaxin, yixiang and adrian cos lionel's treating Haagen Daaz.
haha!
that must be the cause of the bad sorethroat i've been having since after the concert.
but ah heck...
i've ate it.
and many many thanks to Lionel for the treat!
next time, idham will treat us bubble tea. :)

went back down to the dressing room.
the 4 of em' got ready.
we din get changed cos our turn was 2nd half.
so yeah...
being backstage with them is i tell you the coolest thing ever.
been watching them on stage since god knows when
and now, i'm backstage (and will be performning),
WITH THEM!

so took a picture while they were doing this chord/intervals thingy.

then it was time to roll.
me and idham followed the guest percussionists up to the 3rd floor.
where all the bass drums and chimes were.
there were 8 BASS DRUMS IN TOTAL
and
IDIDNTCOUNTHOWMANY chimes there were.
it's for the special canon (as in the ones they use for war) effect
for 1812 overture.
cool stuff...

so yeah..
sat there like a mouse.
and had a bird's eye view of the whole wind band.
which is ANOTHER COOL STUFF.
i bet no one had ever gotten that view besides me.
haha!

so, 1st half finished..
me and idham rushed down to get changed.
and so we did..
tuned and all....
waited for stravinsky's piece to finish.
and we're good to go..

woh....
i'm walking on stage with the philharmonic winds!
how cool is that.
hahaha
okokok... chill khai.
i think i performed well.
just that there were a few intonation problems.
& i'm never gonna use that instrument anymore.
the tuning is all off.
its naturally flat and naturally sharp.
HOW RIDICULOUS.
hahaha!

so after Jazz Suite No.2 (consisting of 3 movements) ended,
me and idham walked out of stage.
and once we got back stage,
we went..

HAL-LE-LU-JAH!
hahaha!

it's over.
so took pics here and there.
(din take much pics though)
&
idham went missing at one point.
hahaha!

thats me. haha!

watching them performing 1812 Overture.
i got bored and went in the toilet and took this.

so this and that...
everyone packed.
and went out.
nina, fidah, finah, valerie, yonglin and ogy greeted us.
followed by a few others.

got the chance to take pictures with lionel bro and yixiang.
and headed down to Bedok..

me lionel and idham

yixiang, me, lionel and idham
[all the best for your NS yixiang!]

some of us decided to take pictures.

PART 2

let's do a quick one.
heard from finah that Fauzi's picking us up.
woh.. got chaffeur.
waited for a while.
and he came.
at 1st, we were joking about going to simpang bedok.
in the end, he brought us to Changi.
ate supper there.

in the car otw to Changi

i started to not feel well after eating.
headed home.
but went to look at the aeroplanes.
you know that long stretch of road.
and u know what,
fauzi gave the steering wheel to idham.
OH MAN, i swear the feelin' was scary.
so, idham steered the car.
thank god i am still alive.
yada yada yada...
fauzi sent us home.......
valerie, followed by idham, fidah and then me.

THANKS FOR THE RIDE!

got home feeling rather fatigue.
and sick.
rested as fast i could.
and that's basically how my day was.

BORING STUFF.
sorry..
haha!

till then,

ciao!
