perhaps the best

The name is Khairul. Would do fine with Khai or Kerol [kay-roll] - with proper pronunciation that is.

May have caused a traumatic experience to the nurses who were there when I graced the world on the 14th of June, 21 years ago.

I reside at the great eastern side of Singapore. At an estate named after a water containment facility. Go figure!

A left-hander. However, I function more like a right. And sometimes left of course.

Owns a Class 3 driving licence.

Have been playing the saxophone for 8 years. Currently a Baritone Saxophonist in the Philharmonic Youth Winds.

Being and socialising with people occupy whatever free time I might have.

Boredom is sadly pathetic - would be just staring at my ceiling.

And recently, graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where I pursued a diploma in Arts Management, majoring in Performing Arts.

AFTER CONCERT.. GOOD JOB ALL!
11:59 PM

[updated on 2nd Feb 2008; 11:31pm]
time and date of post changed for archiving purposes.

wooohooo!
finally,
after so long,
i'm back to blogging....
so, let's just go straight to the point yah...

VIVA LA MUSICA III
was a total blast!
loved every minute and every moment of it.
mmhmm.....

in history,
this is the best/wildest crowd ever!
yes, EVER!
never in my life performing had i seen a crowd so wild!
second wildest crowd was PHILyouth's concert on the 5th of August 2007.

i'll be doing multiple posts.
so,
i'll be trying to make this post look long; BUT NOT TOO LONG.
and i feel it's only sensible to blog it what actually happen during the concert..
ok, go!
haha!

earlier on in the day i had lessons.
told my lecturer that i'd be leaving halfway thru his 3-hours lesson.
and so i did.
to my dismay,
the weather wasnt doing so well.
it started to look all gloomy and dark.

went home to pick up my other stuffs.
and it started to rain rather heavily when i was making my way down to BN.
and yes,
being impatient and wanting to reach there as fast as i could,
i got wet.
seriously wet.
dried myself up.
(oh gosh, must i get into so detailed?)
followed by dinner and we're good to go.

reached Singapore Conference Hall (SCH), waited for further instructions.
while waiting, went over to mdm tao's car to carry stuffs.
and yes,
one of those stuffs were the program booklet.
requested mdm tao that i urgently need to see one.
cos i couldnt wait how it'll turn out to be.
tore the packaging and took one out.
AND OMG!
haha!
IT LOOKS FANTASTIC!
i was seriously in my proud moment.
it turned out to be exactly what i imagined it to be.
what was once on my computer screen, now became reality.
[so this was one of the main highlights of the day]

moving on,
warmed up with the band and tuned and other stuffs.
went thru some of the pieces.
and before we ended the rehearsal (which i must say was a VERY FAST rehearsal.)
the ensemble grps got a chance to feel the hall one more time.
saxophone choir was flying i tell u..

so moving on with the actual concert.
haha!
i loved the opening although i was backstage.
u see, there's a tv back there where u can
actually see what's actually happening on stage.
yada yada yada....

and it was the saxophone's turn.
WOOOOO!
we were super high before we went on stage.
and the after-result?
utterly satisfied.
according to Lionel, he loved everything.
the sound, the style, the intonation.
but there were some parts we were rushing.
i felt it, but thank god it turn out superbly good.
haha!

after the bow?
a HUGE sigh of relief.
got changed.
and waited for 'Wish Upon a Star''s turn.
there were glitches here and there as a grp.
but i guess it was due to nervousness.

and then it's INTERMISSION.
i went..
"1st half's finished?"
i swear it was super fast.

ah heck.
2nd half was where all the fun was.
junior band (good job),
Virtuoso (good job all)
then it was the handing out of token of appreciation.
and unexpectedly, got this board from the main band,
thanking the alumni.
aww. so sweet.
next,
Jacob's (good job)

and it was time for SORANFUNK baby!
the crowd was super great.
and not forgetting the
BERSEPAI GIRLS and it's CREW.
(referring to the dancers. haha!)
a great way to "end" the last piece.
such enthusiasm from Siti Rafidah and her girls shud be highly rewarded.
haha!

did 2 ENCORE.
1st encore,
soranbushi; which was magnific.
randomness from fitri's dance crew.

and the last encore,
Gelato; which was doubly spectacular.
after playing that last rhythm of the piece,
a HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF was released like air in a balloon eagerly wanting to gush out.

a question went thru my mind.
"was the concert a good one?"

i wont say whether its a good one or not.
but ultimately, its knowing that we enjoyed ourselves and knowing that we ROCKED
the house down.
and like what mr lim have said,

"where music is concerned,
there will always be room for improvement.
But when it comes to enjoying on stage and the strong sense of camaraderie,
nobody beats Bedok North Alumni."

(that was from part of the mail he mailed to the alumni)

a great sense of satisfaction was achieved after the concert i must say.
and i bet the others felt it too.
every night practices one after another.
long hours of weekend practices.
and what more, we started preparing for the concert within a month.

and the end of the day,
the sacrifices made was definitely WORTH IT.
i wouldnt trade for it for anything else on this earth.
NOTHING.
it's the only thing that will ONLY be achieved if u are/once a
BEDOK NORTH BAND MEMBER.

before i end this entry,
gotta thank people who gave me chocs and stuffs.

1. Justina, Marlyn and Clarice
2. FTP peeps.
3. Jasmine and Mark
4. Nazira
5. Mr Tan Chin Hong
and the others who i cant seem to recall at the moment.

and now,
some pictures for ur viewing pleasure.

-the modern farmers (saxophone choir)-

-me and bro- -sis, bro and myself-
-don't i look HOT in this pic? haha!- -a small grp photo taken outside the school gate-

till
VIVA LA MUSICA IV.

cheers to all!

"p/s:many thanks to Muhd Fauzi bin Adnan for the car ride.
from Bedok till Commonwealth, till Hougang, and back.
thanks dude!"
