Talking To The Moon

perhaps the best

The name is Khairul. Would do fine with Khai or Kerol [kay-roll] - with proper pronunciation that is.

May have caused a traumatic experience to the nurses who were there when I graced the world on the 14th of June, 21 years ago.

I reside at the great eastern side of Singapore. At an estate named after a water containment facility. Go figure!

A left-hander. However, I function more like a right. And sometimes left of course.

Owns a Class 3 driving licence.

Have been playing the saxophone for 8 years. Currently a Baritone Saxophonist in the Philharmonic Youth Winds.

Being and socialising with people occupy whatever free time I might have.

Boredom is sadly pathetic - would be just staring at my ceiling.

And recently, graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where I pursued a diploma in Arts Management, majoring in Performing Arts.

THE DAY I TURNED A YEAR OLDER
11:59 PM

- Time and Date adjusted for archiving purposes -

Warning: Long entry + Millions of pictures below.

(Well not really millions, less than 40 perhaps?)
I thought of doing a picture video but will leave it to next time.
Uploading here is faster.
14th of June is the day my emotion was like a stock market.
It goes up and down unsuspectingly.
It fluctuates rapidly that I do not know what to feel anymore.
So I'll be kicking out the negative and typing in the positive.
Ready, go.
Let's continue from the last entry shall we? I was up the whole night in Fauzi's crib= I did not sleep. Instead, I was laying around to have MY quiet time. I got sick of laying around that I decided to watch 'The Golden Compass' online. Not a bad movie. Go and watch it. Movie ended at around 6 plus in the morning. Laid around even more and went to watch some shows online. Why the hell was I not at home? Actually, I intended to head home at around 4 am. But then soon enough, the phone rang. It was Mom. She asked where am I and all, asking what time will I return. She asked me not to return home yet. Only to return when the sun is rising. Her reason, she's afraid that I might get into a mob fight or get robbed. She was awake at 4 am, rang me up just to tell me that? I was touched. Er, who wouldn't? Headed home at around 9 plus when the others were still sleeping soundly. Got home, took a nice warm shower, read the papers, watched TV and laid on my back. Just to, you know, chill!

My phone kept ringing time and time again. Birthday wishes from a lot of people. I think my inbox is flooded with birthday wishes. Anyway, at around 2 in the afternoon, Mom asked all of us (Dad, 2nd Bro, Sis and myself) to shower (Yes, I took a second shower) and get dressed. Because we are heading over to Johor. Told you my instincts were right. I'm goooood.
While we were on our way to Woodlands Immigration. Dad took this some sort like complimentary ticket out. It is a complimentary ticket for buffet dinner! Well, Dad recently signed up for some member thing at this duty-free place. As a new member, he receives tonnes of complimentary stuffs for them to welcome him as their new member.

Singapore's immigration was clogging. Had to wait for quite some time. An hour and a half (I think) later, finally got into Malaysia. And Mom, as usual, was being herself. Her funny self. Dad was saying how terrible the security guards are. Mom was spouting some nonsense which I find it hilarious. Mom sure did cracked me up. Oh ya, I forgot. In the morning, received a SMS from Mom. She wished me saying this : "Happy 19th Burpday (B-) <-- Smiley with shades on". I was smiling from ear to ear I tell you. My Mom sure is cute.

I'm drifting. As I was saying, yeah. Mom spouted nonsense which was hilarious. I guess it runs in the family huh? *winks* Headed to this place called The Zon. Plaza, Ferry Terminal, Hotel all combine into one place. In case you're wondering where exactly it is located. It is directly opposite Senoko Plant. Not the best way to describe the place though. It is by the sea that is separating Singapore from Malaysia. You may expect a nice view. So, got there. The place looked scruffy and all (Just wait till I get into the Hotel area). Before proceeding to the Hotel (Name of Hotel: ZON Regency Hotel by the Sea), headed to the Plaza first. Bro wanted to get long sleeved shirts for his attachment. After 45 minutes or so, everyone was complaining how hungry we are.

The following segment of this entry will be pictures + captions.
I will try to refrain from typing too much
or you'll probably just die reading my "novel".

Went to the lobby

Mom saw this plant decor and she wanted a picture.
And yes, that is my CUTE Mom.

Anticipation, much? NAH!
(In the lift)

And the moment we got out of the lift from here . . .

(Lift lobby; 5th floor)

This was the view

.

It felt like as if we are in a cruise.
From cornices, to the stairs, the palm trees are all extravagant!

The two walls merging are where all the rooms are.
The view and all made us forget that we were feeling hungry.
Walked around the area first.

Took pictures here and there.

Sis and me.
[If you see a sudden change of picture quality, that is because it is taken using Bro's phone]

Bro call this picture, "Me and the Babes"

Mom and myself

I like this picture a lot.
If only the picture quality could have been better.

After we had enough of awing here and there. Time to head in.
To makan of course!

The entrance.

The name of the buffet restaurant.

Paid for the additional stuffs and we were brought to our seats.

We got the one with a view. Not really a breath taking one. Hah!

We got there rather early. Around 6.15 pm. And the dinner buffet doesn't start till 6.30 pm. Had to wait, ordered drinks. And you know what happens if we're told to wait? Take pictures of course!

Sister

Myself pondering across the sea (Right!)

Bro.

See those tall red and white chimneys? That's Senoko Plant.

Mom saw this and she says "Anwar, pochong!"
(I repeat, parents call me by the name of Anwar.
Khairul will be used when Mom or Dad seeks for favour.)
See! I know their tricks already!

Then, the clock strikes 6.30 pm.
We stood up and headed to the buffet table. Everything was gorgeous!
The food. The way it is served. Everything!
Weird thing was, we were one of the 1st few there. I thought it was bad enough that I was snapping pictures here and there. Looked around, and saw another guy snapping pictures too! Haha!
Ok, I shall leave you with the pictures and you can drool your way from there.

The main course booth.

The Japanese booth.

Red thingy above- Baby Octopus (FANTASTIC!)
with all the other Japanese related cuisine.

The Chocolate Fondue booth.

The Cake booth.

The Bread & Pudding booth.

And when you have all of those food, of course a Salad booth is a must have!
There were actually more booths but the food was so tempting.
Couldn't help myself.

JUST SOME of the food we ate.

So yeah. There were so many varieties of things to eat. Ate a couple of new things. Ate Venison, which is Deer's meat. It's yummmm-meh. The meat could tear easily and it melts in your mouth. Heaven I tell you. It was my first time eating Rocket lettuce also. It was my first time eating Capers. (Click on the link to know what it is). I always see capers being used in those high class restaurants on television. Being able to taste it was something enriching, perhaps? Heh.

The fondue-d marshmallows, sweet biscuits and fruits.
I told Bro to dip it into the chocolate sauce. But instead he creates this mess.

And the marshmallows were SOOO good that I went back to take more.
And showed him how professionals do it (Referring to myself). Heh.

Got potential ? Haha!

And this was the last thing me and Bro shared.
He made this insane ice cream combo.

-END OF FOOD SECTION-
Relieved? Haha!

Paid the additional bill. Which was 5 glasses of fruit juice.
And a glass cost 9 Ringgit! For a ridiculous normal glass size of fruit juice! Tsk3.

Anyway, headed out back to where we came from earlier and walked around since it was night time. Not forgetting, the ambiance was so much better. Took a whole lot of random pictures. And obviously I will not show all. That would be embarrassing! Hah!
But do trust me. The following pictures, NO FOOD! 100% guarantee!

Remember when I said Mom likes the plant decor there?
Took pictures with her and with the plant decor.

I took the two pictures below, JUST IN CASE Mom misses them. Haha!

After the much photo-taking. Headed back to the plaza. 1st stop, it's a shop that sells tonnes of chocolates. The same concept as 'The Cocoa Tree'. Mom couldn't resist. So she bought Hershey's Kisses. Headed to Isetan-like place. Ah... As usual. Mom was window shopping for shoes and bags. You know how Moms are right? The sight of handbags and shoes are just irresistible. The weird thing was, it did not take her long to window shop. Headed up one level, Mom bought this nice blouse Bro picked for her. Went up to another floor and I bought this Puma shirt. It is green! Haha! The colour that probably you have not seen me in before. And hey, it was on 20% discount!

So that is it. I probably think you are vomiting random thoughts of how long this entry is. This kind of event is one in a while, so I hope you were bearing with me.

And to end this entry off....

Thanks Mom.
Thanks Dad.
Thanks Bro.
Thanks Sis.

Yeah, I honestly must say that this is the bestest birthday celebration ever. Every year would be the same thing. Eat out somewhere near (eg. Simpang). Or Dad would buy a birthday cake and not all would be there to sing the birthday song. But this year, the day I turned 19, was something special. Hearing from Dad that he's bringing us to a high-class buffet restaurant already got me jumping for joy. Today, I must say, I have truly enjoyed myself.

Even though I was feeling low and all. The company of all 4 of you, especially Mom, cheered me up. That put my troubled mind aside.
No words could describe how effing happy I was to celebrate my 19th birthday, with all of you, and at such a place.

I did not asked for gifts. Because a birthday gift is just something. UNLESS it possesses sentimental value. It is ok if you did not get gifts. I don't mind. Because the greatest gift I have ever received, is right in front of my very eyes. The both of you. And that is the only thing I will ask for. For the both of you to live happily ever after, together.

Thank you.

Love,
Khai
And also, many thanks to those who wished me.
Be it by means of MSN, Friendster, phone calls, SMSes, my tagboard.
It means a lot.
Too many to name actually. You know who you are. :)

I'm off to prepare my stuffs for the Philwinds performance later on in the evening.
It's 5.19 am now.
I better do it fast because hell I need some sleep!

Ciao!

"And if I may add one more wish.
If only.....
If only.....
If only I could turn back time.
Sigh"
