Oh boy! Where do I begin?!?! Haha! Let's do one on school. I will try to keep it short. I will TRY. Haha! Ready, go!
SCHOOL
Hmmm... I was late on my first day of school. I guess it was not my fault. Commuters of the same bus I took was pissed too. The wait was super long. Half an hour? Anyway, first lesson was Stage Management. First lesson was basically on the different types of team. Namely, the artistic team, the technical and the management team. I also learn about the stage management team where it comprises of the production manager, stage manager (SM), deputy SM, Assistant SM and the stage crew. The content was somewhat dry for all of us but I guess we just have to bear with it.
Then had Accountings lecture, taught by my Head of Department. Haha! So that means, we must be on time for classes, and also submit our work on time. I am getting the grasp of it. But it is only the first lecture. Some of the things that he went through on the first lecture, I could still remember it when it was taught during my upper secondary school days.
I was ALSO late on my second day of school. Haha! I had Principles of Marketing lecture in the morning. Hmmmm... I have no comments on this module. It is SUPER dry. But the lecturer is interesting. Just that when he talks, he tend to go off-topic which can be annoying at times. Not as in THAT kind of annoying, but when you are confused about what is being taught and all of a sudden he talks about something else. Hope it will be better when we get hold of our lecture notes.
Introduction to World Music was next. This is by far the most interesting module. We learn about the different types of music existing in this world. Well Jazz, Pop, Rock or RnB etc is not included. World Music is rather more to music with ethnic elements in it. For example, Bossa Nova, Samba, Cuban, Latin American etc. So yeah, it was pretty interesting enough for me that he showed a video as an introduction of the module. I am beginning to like World Music now. Haha!
There's no school on Wednesdays. So basically it is a free day for me.
Thursday I was excused from school as I have some band competition to go for which I will further elaborate in the next entry. Missed Accountings and Marketing tutorials. And I heard from a classmate that the Web-centric Applications module is about learning how to use Dreamweaver. JUST THE THING I NEED TO LEARN. It is a software used to design web page easily. Once I have master it, a whole new look will be coming your way! Haha!
Friday: Had this module called the Practical Scenic Design. Had to use this software called Autocad. Which we have learnt in Year 1. Just that this year's content is much more challenging. Converting 2D into 3D. It sounds easy. But the steps in remembering how to do it can be quite confusing at times.
Later that afternoon, had another module called Concert Management. This module scares the crap out of me. We have to group ourselves in 4s and we must organise a public concert. Yes! A concert for the PUBLIC! This is the most practical hands on assignment I have ever done in my life. From ticketing, rental of a hall, catering, allowances for stage hand, advertising, musicians and every other aspects that involves in managing a full scale concert.
What challenges me is the things we have to do and face with. And I heard that if our ticket sales is good, and after we have used it to pay off the rental or rather anything that requires payment AND there's profit made after that, we will be able to keep the remaining profit for ourselves. But if our profit is negative and it is not enough to cover up for everything, we have to fork out our own money. Which can be very scary.
Well, that is my first week of school. Gonna end this entry abruptly because I need to rush off to Bedok now to meet the guys and to Singapore Polytechnic after which. Will be attending their annual band concert. An entry entirely on the glory Philyouth has achieved and the performance night at the Esplanade will be up next. Sorry for the much delay. Been so busy lately.
Ciao!
