READ THIS PART! If you can't be bothered to read my long entry (Haha!), you may skip the 1st part. But please scroll down further till you see "The management of..." (Bold and highlighted in red) because I really want you to read it.
The jamming ended at around 9.30 pm and that is when we decided to make our way to Fauzi's place. As his Dad's car is available for use; and the thought of having supper outside came flooding into everyone's mind. We wanted to waste time and so we decided to walk from HS' place (which was at Siglap) to Fauzi's place (Bedok Reservoir). Haha! Amazingly, with the company of the guys, the walk was not so bad.
We got lost a lot of times. Funny thing happened. Imagine this scenario.
6 of us were walking side by side in a straight line on the road. An image that would project "Don't mess with us". Then, came a black dog running towards us. The next thing that happened? We dispersed and ran in different directions! Hahaha! I just find the situation at that point of time funny. We withdrew back to quite a distance may I add.
Before we got lost and came to a dead end, there were no dogs barking at us. To the point that we realised that we got lost, dogs started barking at us. Weird aye? It was said that if ever you were to lose your way, dogs will lead you the way; by means of barking. I do not know how much of a skeptic you are of this but I think it is true. We followed the dog's barking and surprisingly, it led us to the correct path. We went up the hill and I saw the factory. Then the overhead bridge that officially led us to Bedok Reservoir (Blk 613). The walk was tiring. But it paid off I guess.
We were hungry and tired. Walked to Fauzi's place and was greeted by Finah. All of us went to the car and finally, we got to sit and air-con to cool ourselves down. Headed to Changi Airport (T3) to have our supper at, yeah, you guessed it, Popeye's. I got miserably pissed throughout the whole time I was there.
Now is when the title of this entry comes in. Walked into Popeye's and bought food. I was not feeling well by the time I got to the counter. First thing I noticed, the cashier's face was black, as in a pissed face. I do not give a damn if there were anything that occur that made her upset, but when YOU ARE A SERVICE PROVIDER, please get rid of that face because it is such a turn off.
But that's alright. I still greeted the cashier with a "Hi" and a smile, and gave her my order. She asked me what I would like to have. So, I told her my order (2pc chicken meal [inclusive of french fries and biscuit], no upsize and an additional side dish; which was the mashed potatoes) and bloody hell, before I could even finish saying my order, I was rudely interrupted.
She asked "Having here or take away?".
You guessed it, before I could finish saying "Having here" she already asked me another question. There were a couple of questions she asked and I swear, it was such a turn off! When I got my order, I looked on my tray.
I asked "Why isn't there any fries to go along with my meal?".
She looked at me as if I was at fault and said "Because you asked for a change of fries to mash."
I got kinda pissed and decided to walk away with my tray. I did not bother asking her to correct my order. With that pissed face of hers, no way am I going to even utter a word to her.
Another thing, when I got back to my seat, I looked on my tray. There were 2 pieces of chicken. Well, there is nothing wrong with the quantity but the size of the chicken was ridiculously small! I paid 8 bucks for a meal and all I get is pieces of chicken that looks like a fillet! If Popeye's was some high-class restaurant then at least I would have understood but it is a fast food restaurant! I paid 8 bucks for a screwed meal that still made me hungry. For the record, I am the first to finish waaaay ahead of everyone.
As I sat, I was not hesitating to report it to the manager but I find it of no point. I rather have my complain sent to the head office itself. I will write a complain letter with regards to my unsatisfied service received to them pretty soon. Will update you guys on it soon once I have it typed out.
Give a thought to this. The location of that outlet is at the airport and no doubt there would be tourists who are patrons to that fast food restaurant. Imagine, a tourist who just landed on Singapore and is looking for something to munch. Bumped into Popeye's and decided to dine in there. The same thing happened to me, happens to the tourist. First bad impression of Singapore would be etched onto their minds. It is embarrassing especially when he/she does some story telling to the people on their own soil.
Finally, I am proud to say that there is something that I am ashamed of of Singapore. Singapore definitely have a long way to go in providing world class service to its customers. This may not affect now that much. But look at it long term. In a large scale, the rise of a world class integrated resort at Marina and Sentosa and being the host of the inaugural Youth Olympics in 2010. In a smaller scale, the millions of tourists that flies in for a holiday. Sometimes, I really wonder. Out of the millions of tourists that came here, just how many of them are fully satisfied with our service?
Ate my meal in silence because I was pissed. Fauzi drove us home. Had a pit-stop at Fairuz's place to have a drink and then it was home. By the time I got home, it was say 3+ am? I was so sick and so tired that I took a shower and went to bed immediately; with a blanket covering over me.
Will end my entry abruptly because I think it is getting way too long.
Ciao!
