perhaps the best

The name is Khairul. Would do fine with Khai or Kerol [kay-roll] - with proper pronunciation that is.

May have caused a traumatic experience to the nurses who were there when I graced the world on the 14th of June, 21 years ago.

I reside at the great eastern side of Singapore. At an estate named after a water containment facility. Go figure!

A left-hander. However, I function more like a right. And sometimes left of course.

Owns a Class 3 driving licence.

Have been playing the saxophone for 8 years. Currently a Baritone Saxophonist in the Philharmonic Youth Winds.

Being and socialising with people occupy whatever free time I might have.

Boredom is sadly pathetic - would be just staring at my ceiling.

And recently, graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where I pursued a diploma in Arts Management, majoring in Performing Arts.

THE BREAK I DESERVE
6:13 PM

So finally, the weekend I was hoping for finally came. I came out alive! I momentarily took time off from my new girlfriend. Her name is D. And with D, I was part timing P too. Both of them kept giving me headaches. It is about time that I stand up for myself and tell them that I need a break.

Hahaha! I shall not fool around. I am referring D as in Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 and P as in Adobe Photoshop CS2. Heh.

So Mom and Dad took us over to Malaysia on Saturday for iftar, as what Mom had planned weeks before. Was told by Mom to wake up by 10 am. The clever me stayed up the whole night. Dad bought teh tarik and deng deng (Equivalent to that of the Chinese Bak Kua; except it costs $4 for 2 pieces) for me and it kept me up all night long. Weird thing I was not tired and did not feel like sleeping.

At around 2 am, Fauzi asked us out for supper. First it was Tampines. And when we realised that there isn't any food, headed to Simpang Bedok. By the time I got home, Mom was already up and it was time for sahur. After Sahur, had a session of the facebook application, 'Word Challenge'. I played all the way till it was time for me to shower and head out. Hardcore aye?
(That was basically why I did not hit the sack and decided to stay up)

Left for Johor at around 12 noon to avoid the congestion at Woodlands Checkpoint and true it was, it wasn't congested! Headed to Plaza Kotaraya (PK).

A hilly-billy moment at some cloth shop.

Mom wanted me to try this instead. So I tried.
It was some kind of.... ummm.... ok...... I have no idea what that was!!
Er.. Lamp shade?

No, the purpose of us heading to PK was not to look for hats. Haha! Mom wanted to see if she could get cakes for the festive season. Walked around the whole place and that was when I got a little grumpy. I was tired and Mom was doing a hell lot of window shopping. She would step into every shop and look at almost everything and end up not buying anything. I am not surprised actually. So, I end up standing by the railings and stare and the people downstairs while Mom does her thing. Did a little bit of grocery shopping before heading to The Zon.

Once we were at The Zon, went to the hotel area to book a table for five at the buffet restaurant. This time round it was the place we celebrated my birthday at, but a level higher. It is a buffet restaurant serving Thai food. Ummm... If I am not wrong, it is called Sukothai Restaurant.

By the time we were done with the booking it was 3+ pm. Mom wanted to head to Angsana but Dad was afraid that by the time we would come back for the buffet, it would be difficult for dad to find parking space. So what did we do? We loitered around the whole entire mall and when all of us was getting rather tired, Mom decided to head to the hotel lobby and sit at the lounge area.

And just what will happen if you have the tired-me,
sitting on a very comfortable sofa?

See the progression. From top left to right and then bottom left to right. Haha! Yes! I got the chance to close my eyes and relaxed. Didn't sleep though. Wasted quite a lot of time sitting down and doing nothing. By far, the most unproductive thing I have done with my family. Haha!

We could not take it any longer that we started walking and window shopped. Headed to the departmental store. First thing I saw was the perfume section. I chanced upon a perfume by David Beckham. I remember once that he has his own perfume developed and it was named after him. The salesgirl asked if I would like to have a smell of it and I said "Yes please!". I smelled 3 different perfume by him and there was one that caught my eyes. I meant, nose. Haha! It costs only RM 95. Cheap? Yes! And of course it is an original product! Hinted Mom to get it for me but she was just against the idea of getting perfume. I have no idea why! Is your Mom like that too? Gee!

Probably going save up and get it in Singapore. Not sure if it is available here. And oh! I will certainly not complain if it is going to be a form of gift. *grins*

So instead of getting me that perfume I wanted, Mom got herself an Elle bag. She was so excited over her purchase that she went to the bench outside and started transferring her stuff into the new bag. Haha!

Evidence!

Got bored so I decided to snap a picture with my sister.
My hands kept shaking that she took the matter into her own hands.

Ah... That's better.

After so much time not-worth wasted, it was almost 6.30pm. Headed up to the hotel lobby and waited for Dad while he went to place the stuffs we had bought in the car.

Once we were brought to our table, we started taking food and waited for the azan (which is the call for prayers and that is when can finalyl break our fast). We took quite a lot of food till it filled the whole table! Alright, I will jump to the verdict. The food was quite bad in my opinion. Considering that it was RM60 per head for a buffet meal, it was not worth it. The other buffet restaurant one level down was at the same price and I agree 100% that the food there was much better. I thought it was going to be WOW-thing since it is the first time I am having a Thai Buffet but the food was alright.

I would rather have gone to the 'pasar malam' at Taman Perling. With RM 300 (5 pax for the buffet), there are A LOT OF FOOD that we can buy. I think we would probably need only Rm 50 to fill ourselves up and enjoy really good street-food still. Oh well.........

After eating, headed to Angsana for the bazaar. On the way there, I felt asleep. The next thing I know, I felt a sudden jolt from behind. And Dad stopped the car. The car behind crashed into Dad's car. Haha! Mom got so mad that she stepped out of the car while Dad stayed in the car. Hahaha! 4 guys around my age was in the Perodua car behind us and they got out as well. Mom was so funny. She even threatened for their I/C cards and the guy who was driving the car kept pleading Mom for mercy. But luckily Dad's bumper was strong. It wasn't dent but left a friction like thing which can be remove by just polishing it. Phew! I must say, it was my first time being crashed into and thank God Dad's car was still in one strong piece.

Anyway, headed to bazaar and Mom was looking at the cookies there. We went up and down the whole stretch and in the end she didn't get anything. Went to the supermarket to stock up supplies at home.

Before heading home, dropped by Danga Bay's Singgah Selalu Restaurant to buy dishes for sahur. While walking towards the place from the carpark I saw this...

Yes! Lemang being made the old traditional way. Bamboo stuffed with rice and cooked under wood fire. We would normally eat it with dishes mainly Rendang and Serunding (some kind of a floss). It is rare to see Lemang being made the old traditional way.

Headed for home via the secret way. Haha! Ask your Dad if he know where it is. Traffic flow was alright. After we have cleared Singapore customs I got shot dead. Felt asleep in the car till I reached home. Woke up with Sis resting her head on my shoulders.

Oh! Did you know that the new KPE is now open (I meant the other route)? Dad drove via that way and came out somewhere around Comfort Driving Centre area, from TPE. Which is so much faster than to exit from TPE and head down via the road towards Bedok.

That's all for now.
Ciao!
