I can't tell whether it is me, but I think school has just taken a step higher in terms of work-demand. All these while, I honestly admit that it was manageable. But as week 7 approaches (which today is the 1st day of week 7), it felt like there's a sudden blow of workload. Haha! Now, I have quite a number of assignment to be completed. Some which are due soon.
I am not enjoying school that much either. Considering that Accounts have been such a turn off lately. I really need some time to myself to just clear my doubts on my own. I am responsible for my own learning. Therefore, I shall persevere till I reach the top and ace Accounts. I will prove it!
On top of school work, I believe that getting involve with productions just builds up my experience. Since my course is on the heavy side of being practical, I hope getting involve in such a production would just heighten my level of knowledge. Not every single element of being a future Arts Manager is by the books you know. Back to what I was saying, I am proud that I have two confirmed productions that I will be involved in. Actually, three. The other one can't really consider to be an official one. More details about it when I am done helping out.
(So anyway) Firstly, I will be leading a team of student volunteers for the upcoming Singapore Harp Festival that will be held in around end of October. At first, it felt like I was being unlucky after my lecturer chose me. But after thinking it through, there is not a need to feel that way. In this kind of industry, I must be bold and daring enough to face any kind of problems should there be any. Again, more details about it in the near future.
Secondly, I would be involved in Singapore Dance Theatre's upcoming production, The Nutcracker in mid-December. Basically me and some others would be the assistant stage crews to assist the stage manager in managing the logistics and rehearsals of the extra dancers. Great experience I suppose. Learn from the more professional ones. Well, this oppurtunity would not come by if it was not for Sylvia, who introduced this "offer" to us. Again, more details when the event is approaching.
Personally, I feel that my life as a Year 2 Arts Management student in NAFA is much more fruitful. Being the Assistant Stage Manager for the school's production at the Esplanade, and the Stage Manager for NAFA's dance show; both when I was in Year 1, and now, more coming my way.
Now I wonder, will all these be reflected onto my portfolio when I graduate? Or am I to compile it myself? Hmmmm.. Anyway, to a much short-term goal; which is to be academically good while I am still at it.
Alright, I will probably stop here for today. Entry is elongating. Haha!
Maybe another one tonight.
Ciao!
