Some of you might recognize this place. Well yes! It is the Aquarius, the condominium situated near Bedok Reservoir Park. Made our (Mohan, Rene and myself) way there on Saturday morning to help out with the event (Aquarius Day 2008). Mr Colin Ho (a lecturer in my school) is a resident there, so the condominium's management team needed his help since he has all the right equipment. As always, I will try my best to keep the word count as minimum as I can.
All collage will be referred from the top left (A) to top right (B),
followed by bottom left (C) to bottom right (D).
Extra information: ALL of the equipment you will see belongs to him.
And that is only 25% of what he has.
He has a studio filled with the other remaining equipment.
I wonder how much he has invested on all of them.
Hmmmm...

(A) Picture of the 'stage' area before setting up. As you can see, the tent and the truss is the only thing that you would see. (B) The spectacular view of the condominium's surrounding area. (C) We could not do much work as they were setting up the chairs for the swimming competition. (D) Another view from where I was seated at the pool bar.
So before the swimming competition commenced, we had to set up the sound system and connect all the plugs together and form a circuit. (A) Connecting the cables to the large speakers etc. (B) Mr Colin Ho (in blue) and Mike (who is now working in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Hall) who was there to "supervise" us. (C) The sound mixer. (D) The back of the sound mixer. Look at the messy cables! Haha!By the time we were done with establishing the sound system. There were nothing much that we were able to do at the 'stage' area. Since the swimming competition had started. So, we carried some stuff up to the roof and it was not an easy task. But on the other hand, it was fun fun fun.
(A) The things that we have to bring up to the roof. That silver tripod looking thing is one heck of a load. It was heavy. (B) + (C) We had to climb the ladder. The size of the tree can roughly give you the idea of how high the ladder was. (D) Mo was up on the roof standing by with his rope to pull up the equipment. It was fast having Mike and Mr Ho helping us.
(A) Mike assisting with carrying the equipment up. (B) + (C) With the equipment up on the roof, we had to assemble it. Which in the end looks like what you see in the picture. (D) Mr Ho climbing down the ladder.
Credits to: ReneTook a picture before me and Mohan climbed back down.
Even after we were done assembling the lights on the roof, the swimming competition was still ongoing. So, we went back down to the pool bar and sat there, enjoying the breeze.
Ignore the emo-shots. But if you were to look closely, I am sitting on a stool. A stool for the swimmers.(C) Looks like I am in the pool. Haha!
More pictures taken randomly.
The sound mixer.
At this point of time, they were announcing the winners for the swimming competition. Again, there were nothing much that we were able to do. So we sat and chit chatted.
We got bored for a while. Took random shots.
I kinda like this picture. Finally, it was time for us to rig the lights.
On our way to the 'stage' area.Superman-wannabe. Hahaha!
During the rigging of lights and the curtain, that is when I got really really exhausted. I was fasting and yet I was tiring myself out. My throat was super dry but I kept telling myself to hang in there because this kind of opportunity would probably come once in every blue moon. I had fun tiring myself out (HAHA!) and definitely rigging the lights onto the truss.
(A) The curtain was super heavy but hanging it up seemed like an easy task. Considering that we took turns to tie it. (B) The thick cables that were lying around. (C) Main power chamber that can probably burn you to ashes if this thing would to electrocute you. Haha! (D) Some cool moving light with lots of colours and patterns. Check out the following video.
Took a couple of cool pictures (Well at least I think it is)
Ignore my boxers :P Hahaha!
And after the lights have been rigged and the curtain was up, finally, the 'stage' area set-up is completed!
Laptop (left) to control the light effects and the submaster dashboard (right). The event started at around 6 pm. And by then I was already seated enjoying the breeze and waiting for the night sky to set in. I was in charge of the lightings so I had a fun time choosing colors and patterns. Rene was in charge of sound, so she was the deejay choosing songs off from her mp3 and mine too! Mo was in charge of the followspot up on the second floor. Broke my fast at the pool bar while the event was ongoing. Had Burger King (BK). Thanks Mr Ho for the food!
Unfortunately, it started to rain very heavily. So we had to rush out and pushed the moving lights (the one in the video above) behind the curtain to save it because that costs quite a sum of money. Ran back to the pool bar because we realised that the sound mixer was not covered. Covered it with the casings as fast as we could. Me and Rene were extremely wet! Mr Ho told us to unplug every cable and start packing up since it was raining and the event could no longer continue. Headed home once we kept most of the things under the tent and were told that the rest of the packing up should be done the next day (Sunday). We were expected to leave at around 11 pm. But due to the rain, we headed home at around 9.30 pm.

Took a few pictures before leaving the premises. All I have to say is that the experience was great! I could have a little more fun controlling the lights if it did not started raining. But anyway, I had my chance to play with them.
Last but not least, millions of thanks to Mr Colin Ho for offering this experience to us.
Gee, it is 4.24 am now! Gonna have my pre-dawn meal and I am off to bed. Will probably re-edit it later on during the day.
Ciao!

.. And I can't believe that I spent almost 14 hours there!
