Talking To The Moon

perhaps the best

The name is Khairul. Would do fine with Khai or Kerol [kay-roll] - with proper pronunciation that is.

May have caused a traumatic experience to the nurses who were there when I graced the world on the 14th of June, 21 years ago.

I reside at the great eastern side of Singapore. At an estate named after a water containment facility. Go figure!

A left-hander. However, I function more like a right. And sometimes left of course.

Owns a Class 3 driving licence.

Have been playing the saxophone for 8 years. Currently a Baritone Saxophonist in the Philharmonic Youth Winds.

Being and socialising with people occupy whatever free time I might have.

Boredom is sadly pathetic - would be just staring at my ceiling.

And recently, graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where I pursued a diploma in Arts Management, majoring in Performing Arts.

RESPECT TRAVELS A LONG WAY
11:19 PM

Sometimes the way a person talks to another, it shows how much respect is given. Not only that, it sets the first impression. And yes, first impression counts.

Usually I do not blog about such things but I just cannot believe that there are such ungracious people working for the department. I am referring to a certain department in my school. Maybe re-enacting it would give a clearer picture.

So, I headed down to school for my project submission. I went to my lecturer's office. Realising that I did not see him at his table, I knocked on the door hoping the Executive Officer of my department was there.

Through the door panel I could see a lady sitting down with her laptop. How ignorant she was. I knocked, she saw me at the door but ignored and gave that "who-the-hell-are-you" face. It took her a few seconds to stop being lazy and got her butt off from her chair. I was not paying that much of attention towards her mannerism but it was sure a turn off.

Anyway, she finally got her butt off from her chair and opened the door. I only took a few steps into the room. Greeted and asked for my lecturer. After knowing that he is not in school, I asked politely if she could kindly place it on his table.

Out from nowhere, to my right, a lady barged into the conversation.

The look she gave I swear it was like as if she is asking for a massive blow of my fist right into her face.
Lady X - Referring to the lady who barged into the conversation.
Khai - Referring to myself.

Lady X: Talk to me, What's up? (In a tone of some drunkard)
Khai: Oh hi, is Mr XXX in office?
Lady X: He is on MC.
Khai: Oh, alright. Well, can I have this placed on his desk then?
Lady X: When was this due?
Khai: Ummm.. Monday.
Lady X: (Giving that "HUH?" face) Which Monday?
Khai: Ummm.. The one that just passed?
Lady X: So why are you handing this up now?
Khai: I encountered problems in the process of completing it, so I am here to submit it, like now.
Lady X: Did you tell him before hand?
Khai: No, but I wrote him an apology letter.
Lady X: Give that to me. It is late anyway.

She reached out her hand trying to get the envelop from me while her butt was still stuck onto her desk chair. How lazy!

Khai: (Reached out and passed it to her) Thanks.
Throughout the entire conversation I had with her, she was obnoxiously rude.
First of all, the tone she had on me was as if I was some low class uneducated punk.
Secondly, I have no idea who she was and vice versa. But that is not an excuse to be all "I HAVE AUTHORITY, SO YOU BETTER LISTEN".
Thirdly, was she having one of her menopause episode?
I did not bother trying to deduce.

I walked out of the room feeling disgusted with the way she talked. I am the sort that remember things by having images or "videos" running through my mind. And she sure left a bad impression of herself on me. Usually, I would give people who leave a bad impression of themselves a chance. But I am certain that a chance is not worth the effort for me to take.

My main issue is:
(Referring to Lady X)

1. You are a staff of the school.
2. You should show good example of how adults should talk graciously.
3. And with the tone you speak with, it is DIS-GUS-TING. Hmm... In a pursuit of being infamous, much?
4. Show respect to whoever. Even if that person is really a low class uneducated punk.

I have put whatever that disgusts me behind me now. I just hope AFAN (read it backwards) knows that with such staff running the department, AFAN is just lowering the status of Herself. Well, let me not talk into that. But we have foreign students (plenty of them) studying here. Just what sort of impression are you giving them if such disgusting mannerism is displayed? AFAN is quite made known in other countries but they will be greatly disappointed the moment they know that Singaporeans are actually ignorant and ungracious behavioured people.

Singapore is infamous when it comes to the people. No wonder Singapore is ranked as one of the lowest in Service. I can totally agree on that.
Singapore has a long way to go!
Oh well!

I was so tempted to give a feedback of Lady X to the school because I cannot tolerate such mannerism. Especially when she is an adult and is working ON BEHALF of the department. Just who does she think she is?

On a lighter note, Mr Barack Obama won the Presidential Election! Yay him! Been reading the papers and news but time forbids me to sit down and talk about each episode prior to the elections. By far, this is the most interesting presidential election I have ever watched AND the first that I followed up.
Little did I know I am into US politics.
Anyhoo, he won! First African-American President in US history!
Make that change and the world a safer place to live in.
(I have a good feeling about this guy)

Ahhhh..... Getting tired now.
Going to hit the sack.

Ciao!
