The past two days have been wisely spent with great friends who never fail to make me happy in one way or another and despite the turmoil I was in, they managed to pull me away from it. It was great time spent with my guy friends.
Friday
I decided to go for it, the interview for the position as a part-time conversational malay trainer (CMT in short). Idham, Fairuz and Fauzi accompanied me as well. And at the end of the interview I was told that I am required to do a mock presentation on how I am going to carry out my lesson. Well anyway, ladies and gentlemen, I have decided to drop this whole idea of becoming a CMT. Only time will reveal why I have decided not to take any part-time jobs.
Well anyway, walked to Raffles Place and sat in the middle of the CBD district, Chevron House to be precise. Sat there as we people-watch. It was during the peak hour period and many were walking in and out of buildings rushing for time to be somewhere else while we just sat there.
Then made a move to Tong Seng at Bugis to have our late dinner. My usual order, sliced fish soup with rice + a can of green tea. Ultimate comfort food I can assure you.
Of which we then proceeded to the Esplanade to catch some gigs at the waterfront. I use to do that a lot (when the temporary stage was still there). Now, with the newly built stage, we caught two gigs. The first one was by 'For This Cycle'. I can say that they are the typical young adult band. Nevertheless, the lead singer's voice seemed to remind me of James Morrison. I just thought that he needs to engage with the audience more rather than to 'mumble' things to himself. Girls may find it cute, but what about the fellas who were there? C'mon bro! Hahaha! Anywaaaay, we stayed on for the second performance by 'Kat Parsons'. She's from the USA and man, her voice is heaven-like. She sang quite a number of familiar tunes and got the whole audience to sing together with her. I thought that was cool.
To sum up both gigs, they were nice to listen to. Very laid-back if I may add.
Saturday
Headed down to BN in the morning to help out with the CCA trials. It was quite a good sight actually. The number of maggots (mats/minahs) are getting lesser as the newer generation steps in. But I don't think I will have to speak too soon. They are newbies. They will some way or another get influenced by such cultures. At that tender age of trying to "fit in" and searching for an identity, they are willing to sacrifice their own pride and be someone they are not. I just find it a huge turn-off. If I may, I would like to add a "sentence enhancer" to the last I just made just to emphasize it a little bit more. But, not here.
In the afternoon, headed down to Tampines (opp Temasek Polytechnic area) to meet with the guys and we then walked to Wayne's house. Spent the whole night sitting in his room with nothing but the guitar, an egg shaker and a tambourine. We were singing our hearts out like there's ain't tomorrow. Left for supper and then home.
Both days were filled with laughters.
Some of it which I burst out so loud that my stomach hurts.
Nothing beats the company of my guy friends.
No matter how down you are, they will always be there to lift you up and make you feel better.
I am off to bed.
Ciao!
