The name is Khairul. Would do fine with Khai or Kerol [kay-roll] - with proper pronunciation that is.

May have caused a traumatic experience to the nurses who were there when I graced the world on the 14th of June, 21 years ago.

I reside at the great eastern side of Singapore. At an estate named after a water containment facility. Go figure!

A left-hander. However, I function more like a right. And sometimes left of course.

Owns a Class 3 driving licence.

Have been playing the saxophone for 8 years. Currently a Baritone Saxophonist in the Philharmonic Youth Winds.

Being and socialising with people occupy whatever free time I might have.

Boredom is sadly pathetic - would be just staring at my ceiling.

And recently, graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where I pursued a diploma in Arts Management, majoring in Performing Arts.

AI8: PERFORMANCE SHOW
11:59 PM

Greetings!
I am actually working on two movie reviews and surprisingly, I am only done with the photo-editing. I feel like my holidays are filled with blog related stuff. If I am not busy doing elaborate entries then I will be busy cooking up a new blog skin. Speaking of which, I am eliminating the whole idea of setting up a movie review blog. A hell lot amount of effort is needed to maintain and establish it as an "at-least" credible blog.

But fear not! Instead of doing a separate blog, I will be incorporating the movie review element in my new template/blog skin. It will be accessible with absolutely proper archiving of course! So (I mean it this time round), do look out for it!

Moving on!

I am sure most of you caught the performance show of the season finale of American Idol Season 8. What did you guys think of it? I had too many comments during the show that I could not resist my fingers to text Nina.

ROUND 1
Adam's "Mad World" interpretation is simply the best. Apart from looking like The Undertaker from WWE, he delivered it well and should I say a vocal masterclass! How he brought that song forward is similar to how Danny would have delivered it. But except that Adam made it all 'ADAM'. Kris' interpretation of "Ain't No Sunshine" was surprisingly good. I was trying my very best to be neutral and Kris did actually prove me wrong with that song.

ROUND 2
The creator of American Idol, Simon Fuller picked a song each for the lads. Adam sang "A Change Is Gonna Come". One word - BRILLIANT! It has that laid-back R&B soul to it. Need not say about his vocal range because they were incredible! That song became one of my favourite performances by Adam since the start of this competition. Kris' "What's Going On" was seriously disappointing. I literally asked myself, "WHAT'S GOING ON?!". On top of the cheesy arrangement, his singing was not up to competition standard. It was like watching a live band with our backs against him - seemingly uninterested to pursue him on. In comparison, Adam did so much better in terms of song choice. Vocally, I give credits to Kris for trying but the truth is, he is just mediocre. Nothing to go "WOW" about.

ROUND 3
Kara DioGuardi co-wrote "No Boundaries" for both contestants. Adam's voice was too "rock-ish" for that kind of song. Hence, it questioned his versatility in delivering a different genre. After listening to the song, I figured it will suit Kris best. The richness in Kris' voice is just perfect for a song like this. But how sad it was to see that his confidence overtook him. The start of his performance, I thought "Hmmm, not bad. He might just pull this song off". But soon after, it got worst. He could not reach the higher notes and it sounded like as if someone was grabbing him by the neck. Since he's been great with doing fancy arrangement to a song, why did not he think of adjusting the key of the song to fit his range? He could have done so much better. No?

All in all, I still think that having Danny in the finals would have been a whole different show. He would have had the advantage of acing that last song! Embedding and delivering his true soul would have been the perfect song for him. OH WELL!

All we have to do now is to wait for the results. Although there is a live show on Channel 5 at 8am tomorrow, I am going to give it a miss. I shall wait and anticipate the results during the 10pm show. So please do not go around spoiling it for me because I will kill you! I WILL! Hahaha!

WOH! Long update!
Okay, I'm done!

Cheers!
