FAMILY AND FRIENDS
9:51 PM

Saturday turned out to be a boring day. Usually down with the normal routine which I have practiced for a few years now; which is to head down to my former secondary school and teach. But since Saturday was an off-day for the band, it seemed empty. But looking on the bright side, at least I get to wake up later than usual. Long since I rise up from bed when the sun is directly above me.

Spent most of my early afternoon sitting in front of the computer with nothing but Facebook of course! Haha! Headed out for dinner with family as soon as Mom and Dad came home from some wedding. Dad drove down to Tekka Market for the awesome eating place there. Killer-Thosai and killer-Teh!

It was still early when we were done with dinner. Mom asked where I wanted to go. It did not take me long to think of a place - Marina Barrage. I went there once and it was a pretty neat place to chill. The breeze, the crowd, the lights, the splashing of water from below and the company of parents and siblings, just could not get any better.

Headed down to the Water Playground and that is when my inner child got unleashed! Haha! Took my sandals off and went into the shallow pool of water.

Referring to the 4th picture - Mom placed her hands in the way of the water's direction and water got splashed everywhere. My back got terribly wet but it was kinda fun. My sister and I felt like a kid when Mom was playing with the water in an attempt to tease us. Haha!

Then Fauzi texted saying that the guys are heading down to Simpang Bedok (SB) for supper. I got Dad to drop me off at SB. The things we always do at SB - Eat, drink and socialise. Since SB was kind of crowded and noisy, we decided to head somewhere much quieter afterwards. Changi Beach was full so Pasir Ris Park was the next possible destination.

There is where I unleashed my inner child again! And I am not the only one for the record. All of us were in our kiddish mood! We played this tilted saucer thing which goes round and round. It was pure fun I tell you. Trying to get that thing to go one full revolution was already a tough task. And the fun part was when Izzat got off from that saucer. The moment he got off, the saucer spins fast. I got dizzy but dizziness was the thing that kept the fun going. Haha!

As much as I want it to go all night, home was our prime destination.
Head down to Fauzi's blog for pictures and possibly a video of what we did. Haha!

Gonna end this entry abruptly.

Ciao!

p/s: I was re-reading the entry and realised that at some parts of my entry, it makes no sense at all. Not really in the mood to edit and so I shall leave it as it is.

KESIAN BOYZ™ GOES CYCLING, AGAIN!
7:09 PM

Saturday was here again. We were looking for activities to fill up our boring afternoon. Out of the blue, we decided on cycling. Yes, and this time round hardcore cycling.

Planned to meet up with the rest at 5-ish in the afternoon but before we could all make our way back to change, it started pouring heavily. The plan got delayed by an hour. So, I got Dad to send us (Fauzi, Izzat and myself) to Izzat's place. Met Idham, Ogy and Wayne at the usual bicycle shop in Pasir Ris and off we go!

Did I mention that we were doing hardcore cycling? Hardcore cycling = Hardcore route.

We went to this places in this order:
  • Pasir Ris
  • Loyang - There was this downhill slope which was quite steep. And as a result of it, we were "speeding". Unfortunately, as our dear Fauzi went downhill, his front tyre exploded, LITERALLY! There was an explosion of white smoke and what accompanied that was a really loud boom. Knowing that we are in the middle of nowhere (with no bicycle shop around), Fauzi hitch-hiked Ogy's bicycle while Izzat skillfully pushed the bike with one arm while cycling his bicycle.
  • Changi Village - There was where we got the tyre & tube changed. We conserved energy while waiting. And soon, we were off to go.
  • Changi Beach - From CV, we took the park connector into Changi Beach and that was when the extremely loooong bicycle track began. First up, we were along the beach and that wasn't as bad as what we were about to encounter. The further we proceeded, the darker it got.
  • THAT long stretch of road beside Changi Airport - If you know where it is, you would totally agree that it can be a long dreadful ride. Even if you are in the comfort of a car, it takes quite some time to reach from one end to the other. As I was cycling, I stared at what was in front of me. The road seemed never-ending! The rest were way ahead of Fauzi and myself. So, we took our time and kept it at a steady pace.
  • The DILEMMA - We arrived at the very end of what it seems like Forever-Road, we were all deciding whether to continue on INTO the park connector or to take the outside road. Why the dilemma? Because the park connector was extremely dark!! If you look into what the path awaits, you won't be able to see a thing! Trust me, it was to that extent that most of us were afraid to enter. But being us, we still wanted to take the chance. Call it cheap-thrills (HAHA!). Afraid that anything might happen, we decided to wait for passer-cyclists. We asked this pair of hardcore-cyclists who were much older (therefore, experienced) than us, and he led us to the way we were heading towards.
  • The SHOCKER - We followed the pair and came to another park connector. Upon entering another park connector, I swear, there stood the most beautiful night scenery I have ever seen. We were cycling next to a canal and what was in front of us was the open sea, which was littered with large ships. There were no lights along that path. Then came The SHOCKER. We dipped into a sharp right turn and the next thing we realised, we were in some jungle; IN DARKNESS! My heart was beating heavily. I bet the others were too. So, we followed each other closely.
  • Cycled pass National Service Resort and Country Club and FINALLY, we were at East Coast Park! We came a long long way. Waited for Heng Shoon and Syafiq at National Sailing Centre.
  • MacDonald's at East Coast Park for pit stop.
  • Mountbatten Road.
  • Kallang.
  • Singapore Indoor Stadium/ Kallang River - And there, one of nicest view! Took a rest.
  • One end of Geylang to the other - And believe it or not, we actually cycled through the lorongs. Haha! Don't worry, there were no intentions attached. But it was sure an eye-opener!
  • Paya Lebar.
  • Eunos.
  • Ubi.
  • Bedok Reservoir.
  • Tampines.
  • .... AND FINALLY back to Pasir Ris.
I was aching all over once we have reached Pasir Ris. And special thanks to Fairuz for fetching us in his Trajet! His car was spacious and that added extra comfort especially when we were aching all over. Late night supper at Hougang and home was the final destination.

Gonna end this simple.
Got home, showered, knocked-out!

Ciao!

p/s: Actually, I was thinking of posting up a map of the route we took but then realise that after halfway through doing the picture, we actually covered a lot of area. Hence, unable to fit the image and show you the exact route we took. Thousand apologies for this wordy post.

KESIAN BOYZ™ GOES CYCLING
11:59 PM

Honestly, this was rather impromptu.

As usual, we would head out every Friday afternoon/evening to kill boredom. Our initial plan was to head down to Sim Lim. So, I decided to crash in at Fauzi's place to kill time since it was rather early. At his place, we were planning for our inaugural trip together; to Bangkok. We were so engrossed in looking up for hotels and places of interests that time flew so fast. The initial plan evolved. We decided to meet Wayne at City Hall. But before leaving his place, we eventually changed the plan to cycling.

I went home to get changed and proceeded to Izzat's place at Pasir Ris with Fauzi; to borrow his bicycle. So from there we started on our journey. I rather not type it all down, but I have prepared a map of the route we took.

Start: 6:30 pm
End: 11:20 pm
The cyclists: Hazizi, Wayne, Idham, Fauzi, Izzat and myself.

Some really funny thing happened while we were cycling. But no doubt it was tiring. It was more like army training than a normal "lets-cycle"; trust me on this.

  • Before approaching Opera Estate, there was this steep hill up. The cycle up was torturing. By the time we reached the top, everyone was exhausted. But the ride down the steep slope near Siglap was FUN (though my brakes were not working properly, I took the risk and enjoyed the speed)
  • Somewhere before crossing over to East Coast Park (ECP), Fauzi and myself were cycling on the road. Little did we know that we were cycling on the road out to the expressway! There were low barriers so we decided to carry our bikes over the barrier.
  • Before crossing over back from ECP to Bedok Road area, there wasn't any ramp down. Instead, it was all stairs! So, we have to carry our bikes down and back up again on the other side.
  • Before reaching Izzat's place, we had to push our bicycle up a hill twice but only because there's a down slope awaiting.

So tell me, apart from the long distance cycling, does this sound like army training to you? Hahaha!

Returned Izzat's bicycle. Fauzi and myself headed for home feeling all worn out. Overall, it was fun and tiring. I am sure we burnt a whole lot more calories than we think we did!

This sounds like it is going to be a weekly routine. How guys? Up for it? Haha!
Oh yes, the Mass Night Cycling on the first night of the chalet will be next!

That is all for now.
Ciao!
