MONDAY AFFAIR
1:21 AM

I got knocked off from school a little too early on Monday. Knowing that I had time to kill before heading down to Simpang Bedok for the Iftar gathering, I decided to meet up with some of them. The girls (Fidah & Nina) had some random sudden urges to visit IKEA to survey prices (or was it something else?), together with Fauzi and Izzat.

While I had my eyes washed with so many inspirational items up for sale, I stumbled upon this DYI cardboard box that comes with a lid. Believe it or not, it cost only 90 cents per box. I have always needed proper storage spaces - as in a place to store my past textbooks, notes or whatever that I wish to keep for future use (I hope).

It was rather large. So I think I will drag my parents down for easier transportation. Nope, I did not buy them. Haha! BUT SOON!

Walked about and I guess hunger was taking its toll. All of us were tired if not, famished.

Headed towards Simpang Bedok (SB) to meet the others for the Iftar session. Well, it was suppose to be an alumni gathering but apparently, the usual group of us turned up - none other but truly famous people: KBBG.

Had a fair share of laughs and exchanging of quirky but cute remarks. Oh, and not forgetting the usual mini Cornettos for dessert. Definitely, it has always been so warm to be just around these wonderful people. Feeling comfortable even if by means of insulting or throwing indirect sarcasms across tables. All in all, I would not trade any one of those precious memories for anything else in this world. Well, if I had the most delicious chocolate bar that can make me go higher than cloud nine, then perhaps yes. Hahaha! Kidding!

Spent quite a bit there and decided to trail down (by bus while some fortunate group got to hitchhiked on Aminoor's car) towards Tampines - we apparently had some weird cravings for J.CO Donuts.

Upon reaching, went to look for the girls (Yup, the group guilty of taking Aminoor's car) and I got a rude shock. Haha! They planned an advance birthday surprise for Izzat. It came to me as a surprise too. Matter of fact, I was wondering why I could hear them singing the birthday song when none of ours falls on that day. Well, not till I took my mobile out and saw two text messages from Fauzi saying that the girls are planning something. The wrong person got surprised - ME! Slow aye. Oh well.

All of us got ourselves fork and spoons and one by one we start to dig into the cake, literally! We got too lazy to cut the cake evenly, and distribute it that we decided to just eat it as a whole; together. It was kinda a barbaric sight. One thing for sure, the cake was simply divine.

It was chocolatey - I like.
It was hazel nutty - I like.
It was extra chocolatey - I like.
Too much of all the above - Makes me (and the rest) sick. Haha!

Ended the meet up with a group photo and after which we went our separate ways.

Awesome day with awesome friends.
Till the next entry.

Cheers!

20 IS JUST A NUMBER
8:58 PM

ALERT: MASSIVE UPDATE FOR ARCHIVING PURPOSES

I need to get this entry over and done with first before it starts collecting dusts in my photobucket account. 'Terminator Salvation' movie review will be done after this.

Okay, go!

So yesterday, June 14th was my birthday. If you have forgotten, shame on you! It was not so much of a big deal since I am just turning a year older. Okay, maybe I am a little concern that I am forced to give up the "1" and usher in the "2" with open arms. Turning 20 makes me feel old. But definitely, I am young at heart. *grins*

I fell asleep on my living room floor while watching the telly. The following morning, Mom and Dad woke up just to wish me 'Happy Birthday' before they left for Malaysia. As much as I wanted to tag along, I have Phil Youth rehearsal in the afternoon. Rehearsal was alright - maybe because I was tired from lack of sleep the night before.

Planned to head home and have Maggi after Phil Youth because I was hungry. And with my bulky and heavy instrument, I wanted to just head home fast; before I lose my sense of touch in my arms.

When I arrived at my front door, attached to the gate was a small piece of orange paper with little words. Written were some instructions telling me that my day isn't over yet and that I need to shower immediately, and wait for the next clue at 7:50PM. I immediately sensed that it must be the work of KBBG. A little suspicious of that small note, I entered the house slowly. Believe it or not, I was THAT afraid to enter.

I showered and got changed. And at around 8PM I received another clue via SMS - from Nina. The next instruction was to head out to my shoe rack for the next clue and which the subsequent clue directed me to the mailbox.

I was instructed to walk around the jogging track once if I wanted to receive the next clue. I seriously felt like an idiot walking aimlessly, smiling to myself thinking what could happen next. I looked around and see no one I recognise. Upon completing that one round, I received another clue. Oh brother! The clue directed me to a nearby lift lobby and another clue was pasted on the wall.

"Now, look for the 'Happy Birthday' sign,
where people would be kicking each other's asses off"

The moment I read that message, I mumbled "What the heck?! Where am I suppose to go now?!". I walked around the area and little did they know that I am about to surprise them. I was supposed to enter from the front but I brought myself from the back instead. Haha! Apparently, the birthday sign was hanging on the fence of a basketball court - Teakwando practice happens there every Sunday.

Walked towards them, and I think they are equally surprised as I am! Saw a lighted cake and they began to sing a birthday song. I kept whining to them how much I felt like an idiot, but all was fun. Haha!

Blew the candle off and they presented me with this large self-made birthday card (above). They also got me this really huge box tied with red ribbons. It was pretty heavy and it got me thinking, "What on mother earth could be inside this box?"

After the picture taking, we were all famished - including me. So, we unanimously decided on Simpang Bedok. Had our dinner, constant laughs and a little bit of serious talks here and there. It was with great company and I kept smiling to myself saying, "This could not have possibly be any better"

Then, as suggested, I opened the heavy box that was presented to me earlier on. Untied the red ribbon, took off the lid and all I see inside was red, red and more red! It was red-galore! If you have not noticed, red is one of my favourite colours.

As you could see from the picture above, they got me to take pictures with every single item (ALL 20) that was in that box. That explains the many "mini-mes" above. Haha! No worries, I have dedicated a whole portion at the end of this entry for what was inside that box.

Oh! The guys also presented me something that I was equally impressed with. That too, later at the end.

KBBG + CY w/o the army boys (Fairuz, Ogy & Wayne) and Heng Shoon

The usual group photo before we all go our separate ways. The rest headed home. As for Fauzi, Finah, Idham and myself, we headed to Changi Beach - take a stroll, plane watching, star-watching and enjoy the breeze. Got home before 12 and decided to give "Wendy" a test-drive under low-light (if you have no clue who Wendy is still, an entry about her is just directly below).

The self-made birthday card I received (above) with all their well wishes. Including the army boys' wishes! I was touched and that made me remember how much we all miss them. I had fun reading all of it. There were funny ones too. As always, it would come from Izzat. He wrote "Happy 31st Birthday!" Hahahaha!

RED kiddy watch, RED foodstuffs (Skittles, Kit Kat, Doritos, Maltesers), RED face towel, RED photo frames with photos of KBBG and SE7ENS in each, RED cushy rose on a stick, Strawberry flavoured RED Chupa Chups.

RED apple, RED ball, A tin of Coca Cola (in RED), RED socks, RED mechanical pencil, RED notebook, RED folder with 20 facts about me slipped inside, a large bottle of home-made cookies tied with a RED ribbon, RED mug with a RED keychain.

They even got me a RED London bus toy. I asked them, why bus? They replied saying because I wanted to be a bus driver when I was very young. I went "Oh!" and laughed hysterically! Hahaha!

Oh! I got a gift from the guys as well, which I was equally impressed with. Though it is something small, it's the thoughts that count.

They got me ....

.
.
.
.

A fishing kit! Cool or whaaat?!

There were a lot of hooks, ready-made hooks, weights, floats, a reflector - all in that one container! Izzat even tied a set of hooks onto a ready-line with his own hands, so that I would not waste time tying the hooks the next time we go fishing. Speaking of which, I wanna learn how to tie. Izzat, teach me! Haha!

Again, I can never emphasize how much I was touched by that simple gesture from the guys.

Thank you Nina, Amina, Susu, Asmah, Fidah, Finah, Cai Yu, Idham, Fauzi and Izzat for making my 20th birthday a very memorable one. Loved every single bit of the celebration. Loved the presents and the cake too!

I am glad that I get to celebrate my 20th birthday with such awesome friends I love.

Cheers!

KBBG GATHERING (MAY 31ST, 2009)
6:36 PM

Not too long ago, the KBBGs gathered at Simpang Bedok. Three of the guys are embarking on a journey of serving the nation - National Service (NS). Hence, it was a simple dinner together before they set off for their Basic Military Training (BMT) in Pulau Tekong.

It was nice to see the three soon-to-be army boys with their "new" hairstyle. It got me thinking, "Soon, it will be my turn and there would be of no way I can run away from it. Well, unless the Singapore government decides that NS will not be compulsory next year." Hahaha! Dream on Khai, dream on.

As mentioned, it was a simple dinner. At the end of it, Su'aidah (aka Susu) presented the soon-to-be army boys a little souvenir to remind them of us while they are there.

Introducing the soon-to-be army boys with their little souvenir.
From left to right: Ogy, Fairuz, Wayne

As of today, Ogy is currently "enjoying" army life in Tekong now. He booked in yesterday morning and I did not have the chance to wish him one last time. Haha! We (the guys especially) will miss him, because usually he is the one who will make the funniest yet lame comments and that just crack us up. And as for Fairuz and Wayne, they are entering soon.

Before leaving Simpang Bedok, most of us wanted to take pictures with Ogy. There will be of no need for me to explain. Pictures will do.

The bigger picture in the collage below is funny. Just look at Ogy's facial expression. Haha!

Ogy started to complain because it was tiring for him to stand at one spot, with the flashes from the camera flashing at him! Haha! As usual.

We hope you are enjoying life there Ogy!

Cheers!

WE DID IT AGAIN!
1:33 AM

Date changed for archiving purposes

Event happened on May 23rd, 2009

As usual, when one of our dear friend's birthday is just around the corner, the KBBGs will spring up into action and cook surprises. On May 23rd, we celebrated Rafidah's birthday. Before meeting up, the guys crashed over at Fauzi's place to prepare the food. Yup! It was the guys' turn to do all the cooking. Prepared some sandwiches, nuggets and fries and we were good to go! Having us all in the kitchen was great fun. Funny things happened (eg. over-seasoning of the egg sandwich with loads of crushed black pepper) but hey, a whole bunch of guys (us especially) in the kitchen equals to havoc.

After all the frying, preparing and packing we made our way down to Bedok Reservoir Park. The girls chose the newly built floating platform and I must say it was a pretty good location. Just look at the scenery there.

On a side note, the sunset was awesome. I have been living around that area for almost 8 years now and never have I seen such colours blooming in serenity. Before that scenery came around, we had to get down to business. Decorating the platform for Rafidah's surprise.

All of us helped out with the decorations and I must say the amount of teamwork by all of us was efficiency at its best. Blew quite a lot of green and gold balloons, and started decorating the entire end of the platform with it.

I saw a lot of tea candles that Susu brought and it gave me an idea. I decided to lay it out around and on the mini-table Susu brought along. We all had way too many tea candles to use. In trying to make full use of it, I decided to arrange the candles into what you see above. But trust me, keeping the candles alive was absolutely tiring. The strong winds were not helping either. We were all struggling! Haha!

While waiting for Rafidah's "grand entrance", we decided to jam. Sang to songs, which never made it to the end (because we always sing it halfway)! And in the midst of all this, we planned on how to surprise Rafidah. Somehow, we were all excited.

And finally! The soon-to-be 20-year-old girl arrived. She was blindfolded and made to listen to her Ipod (I think). So when Syaherah left her at the center of the platform, she screamed so loud that the fishes in the reservoir went deaf (ok bedek ah)! I swear she was like some lost lamb searching for its mother. I was laughing so hard (the others too) that I wanted to pee in my pants. Watching her scream was hilarious! Hahaha!

Cake-cutting as usual and it was finally time for us to dig in! We were all famished from the waiting, that the food finished within seconds! Haha! Took group photos - girls and guys separately. And I wonder why we did not take together. Did we?

Games organised by Asmah was a good one but I did not participate. I was frantically trying to find the toilet together with Nina. Made it back in time to watch Fauzi do the cheeky chicken dance. He possesses good entertainment value I must say. Haha!

Another awesome birthday surprise by the KBBGs. And if you are wondering what KBBG is, it is basically the usual group of friends we always hang out with. "KB" stands for 'Kesian Boyz' (the guys in the group) and "BG" stands for 'Baking Girls' (the girls in the group). And thus, with us all being the usual group, we combined both group name and call ourselves "KBBG".

Oh c'mon! Don't you have your own distinct group name too? Haha!

Anyway, we know you had a blast Rafidah! The KBBGs will always be there for you and we love you!

Cheers!

OVERDUE POST #1: HENDERSON WAVES
9:49 PM

Finally! I have gotten the chance to really sit down, use the computer and blog. You would not wanna know how busy I was these past few days. Juggling between band camp, other commitments, school and social life just leaves me physically and mentally exhausted at the end of every single day.

On the 1st of March, it was rather an impromptu day. Except for the fact that we (alumni) had planned to head down to Singapore Conference Hall (SCH) because our juniors were going to have their sound check. Fauzi drove that day so transport was kinda covered. He drives a 7-seater car but there were 8 of us + 1 driver altogether. We had to squeeze into the car like canned sardines but nothing beats the warmth emitted by the person next to us. It was raining rather heavily and hence, our warmth countered the cold. Haha! Pardon me if it does not make any logical sense! But you do get my drift right?

After the sound check at SCH, headed down to Simpang Bedok (Yes, all NINE of us!) and it was still raining cats and dogs. On the way to Simpang Bedok, we switched on the CD player and had the stereo to play out tunes from the past. Westlife was the boyband for the day. Remember those days when Westlife was rated as one of the coolest boyband? Yeah, our much younger days. To think of it, I prefer songs from the past. Not to say that the songs now are excruciatingly ridiculous, but listening to classics just brings out that fuzzy feeling in me. Again, I am not sure if it is making any sense but please do get my drift. Haha!

At Simpang Bedok
While waiting for our food to arrive, I took Rafidah's DSLR and started to snap pictures. And from then on, I presumed myself as the photographer for the day. I don't know, I tend to get all excited each time I lay my hands on her DSLR. Haha!

Dinner was considerably a fast one. So, knowing that it was Sunday and is still early, we brainstormed on where to go next. I suggested that we should try heading up to Henderson Waves. I have always been wanting to go there and finally it was my virgin visit there.

At Henderson Waves
Light rain unfortunately greeted us when we got there. But at least it was much better than a heavy downpour. Funny things happened and I had a serious good laugh. After a few wrong turns and a toilet break, we finally brought ourselves to the start of Henderson Waves. It was night time by then and city lights lighted up the sky. The view from the top was simply awesome. The mild breeze that brushed against our cheeks felt like as if we're in heaven already! Haha!

We were the only people up there and rarely any passerby. So, we started to snap pictures. I could have sworn it was like some photo shoot going on up there. Here are the pictures:

Looks like Idham is flying in this picture!

Lost love?

From L to R: Nina, Idham, Pauline, Fairuz, Finah, Izzat, Rafidah, Fauzi

I like this picture the most.

Overdue Post #2 is up next!

14 FEBRUARY 2009
5:50 PM

Valentine's Day, or more easily known as V'day.

To me, it is just like any other ordinary day. Though I strongly feel that V'day is so overrated but nevertheless, it is that time of the year we get to show our love for not only our loved ones, but our friends too. When I mention 'overrated', I am referring to how elaborate some may celebrate it. Showing love is not about how expensive or how extravagant a couple spends on each other, but rather with whom you are celebrating that counts the most. Yes, it may add that sparkle and make it all more special but I am sure all your partner want is to be with you.
Quoted from a blog: "...it got me thinking how tacky this day can get because people go drunk silly over the boyfriends/girlfriends and forget about their friends who's been there all along. I mean if you wanted to make an effort to show your love for someone, then show it every day. rightt?"
So true.

Anyway, enough on the introduction.

On V'day, the Baking Girls and Kesian Boyz (unfortunately, it was not the full force) decided to have a gathering cum dinner at Simpang Bedok. I mean, since we're not celebrating it might as well embrace it. No one said Valentine's Day is for COUPLES ONLY. Haha! Many things happened. From the laugh-out-loud session at Simpang Bedok after Ogy made a very disturbing confession, to the impromptu Changi Fire Station pit-stop, to the cam-whoring session outside the fire station which got all the passerby staring at us, and lastly, to the sing-out-loud session from Simpang Bedok to Tampines (BY FOOT!).

Enough said, here are the pictures.

I therefore conclude that my V'day was splendid! Time well-spent with AWESOME company!

You know, I have this strong feeling that we will be buddies for a very long time. Looking forward to when they start to have kids and calling each other up for 'babysitting services'. Haha! Ok, it is just some wild imagination of mine. But no one knows. Looking at where we are now, it becomes clearer each time we gather.

I am currently anticipating the chalet cum gathering tomorrow. Not forgetting the Mass Night Cycling! Rest assured, an update on it after the weekends.

On a not-so-light note, this weekend and the following week is not going to be an easy one.
  1. Chalet
  2. Mass Night Cycling
  3. BN; Sec 1s
  4. Barbecue
  5. Contract Law test on Tuesday
Going from one place to another, with no proper rest. Oh boy!

Ciao!

On a happier note:
Valentine's Day has always been a special day for me.
Be it in the past, the present and definitely what the future awaits!
I thank all the people who one way or another
have made my 14 FEB a day to remember.
